On Saturday the 30th of April I attended the sweeps festival in Rochester. The festival is held around the bank holiday and is celebrated every year to commemorate the only day that those poor chimney sweeps of ye oldie Victorian times had off off work (perhaps they should have got a good union rep). There is a lot of Morris and street dancers and performances a nice beer tent with live music and some nice burger stalls. The high street becomes very crowded during the festival so probably not the best day to go shopping. There was also a fare in the castle grounds which we visited with rides games and even a temporary tattoo stall. The castle admission cost was however a bit over priced for what is inside. Its mostly a ruin with a few passages and a hell of a lot of wonky uneven spiral staircases. It was however a great day out and i would recommend it to anyone. I had a great time and am looking forward to the Christmas festival later in the year.
